‘Congress manifesto features Thailand photos’: BJP asks if Nyay Patra is Rahul Gandhi’s holiday itinerary

As the political landscape heats up ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a scathing critique of the Congress party’s manifesto, accusing it of deception and misinformation. The BJP alleges that the Congress’s promises, including those targeting women’s welfare and environmental concerns, are nothing but a “bundle of lies” aimed at misleading voters.

BJP’s Criticisms

Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi lambasted the Congress manifesto, pointing out discrepancies such as the inclusion of pictures from New York and Thailand. Trivedi mocked the Congress’s choice of images, questioning the party’s wisdom and accusing it of resorting to deceitful tactics.

Mockery and Allegations

Using a Hindi proverb, “Akal bade ya bhains?” (Is wisdom greater or the buffalo?), Trivedi ridiculed the Congress for featuring pictures unrelated to India in its manifesto. He alleged that the Congress had failed to exercise prudence both in managing its social media accounts and in selecting appropriate visuals for its manifesto.

Accusations of Deception

Trivedi accused the Congress of attempting to mislead voters with false promises, suggesting that the party had a history of making unfulfilled commitments. He questioned the implementation of previous manifesto pledges and challenged the Congress to demonstrate instances where its promises had been realized in states under its governance.

Jibes at Rahul Gandhi and Congress

Echoing Trivedi’s sentiments, BJP leader Amit Malviya took aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that the party’s manifesto resembled a holiday itinerary for Gandhi rather than a comprehensive plan for India’s development. Malviya criticized the use of a picture of Thailand under the Environment section, insinuating that Gandhi’s personal preferences influenced the manifesto’s content.

The BJP’s critique of the Congress manifesto reflects the intensifying political rivalry ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Accusations of deception and mockery characterize the BJP’s response to the Congress’s electoral promises, setting the stage for a contentious electoral battle. As both parties vie for voter support, the scrutiny of their manifestos underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in democratic processes.
